The plumbing that decides whether anything else works

A technically flawless site with nothing worth reading will not rank. Neither will excellent content on a site search engines cannot properly crawl or a phone cannot load. Both jobs are separate, and this is the first one.

Crawl and indexChecked, not assumed

What we look for in a technical audit

We start with what Google can see and how fast it arrives: rendering, crawl paths, duplicate and parameter URLs, canonicals, sitemaps, and whether the pages you care about are actually indexed. Then performance — largest contentful paint, layout shift, interaction delay — measured on mobile field data rather than a flattering desktop score.

Most sites have a handful of issues doing real damage and a long list that do not matter. The audit's value is telling you which is which, in the order worth fixing.

Typical fixes

  • Speed and Core Web VitalsImage formats and sizing, render-blocking scripts, caching, font loading and layout stability.
  • Crawl and index controlRobots rules, sitemap accuracy, canonical logic, pagination and parameter handling.
  • Structured dataOrganisation, service, product, article, FAQ and breadcrumb schema, validated.
  • Site architectureInternal linking and URL structure so authority reaches the pages that need it.
  • Mobile renderingReal-device checks — tap targets, viewport, and content parity with desktop.
  • Migrations and redirectsRedirect mapping, staging checks and post-launch monitoring so rankings survive a rebuild.

When to prioritise this

Before a content push

So the pages you invest in can actually be found and load quickly.

After a redesign

Rankings drop after most rebuilds. Usually it is redirects and speed.

Large or e-commerce sites

Where crawl budget, facets and duplication cause the most quiet damage.

Questions we get asked

Is a perfect PageSpeed score the goal?

No. The goal is passing Core Web Vitals on real mobile devices and loading the main content fast. Chasing a synthetic 100 often costs more than it returns.

How long do technical fixes take to show up?

Crawling and indexation changes can register within days; speed and structural improvements usually show in rankings over four to eight weeks.

Can you work with our developers?

Yes. We can deliver a prioritised, specific ticket list your team implements, or do the work ourselves — whichever is faster for you.
